Interserver provides
shared, vps and dedicated hosting powered by Dotclear
DotClear is a free and open source blogging platform and media manager. The team of developers that
make DotClear say that they are working to develop software that is fully in line with current web
standards. The platform is written in PHP, which is quite common for this type of thing. While not very
popular compared to other options, it is apparently quite common in French speaking countries.
While primarily used for blogging, DotClear can be used on other types of sites thanks to support for
Wiki or XHTML. You’ll have access to all the common content management system features that you’ll
need. While it is not used by nearly as many people, it still has excellent documentation so users can
learn how to use it properly. In terms of system resource usage this option is about average, which
means you’ll want to make sure you have web hosting that can keep up with it. New or low-traffic sites
can use a shared hosting service, but if you start getting a lot of traffic it may be wise to move up at least
to a VPS.
