centOS-7 and systemctl

hello -

is systemctl replacing /etc/init.d on centOS-7 ?

in other words, in my rc.local file, i have a line that looks something like this:

/etc/init.d/mysqld start ;

will this now be replaced with

systemctl start mariadb ;
--or--
systemctl enable mariadb ;

i noticed that /etc/init.d is almost empty on my centOS-7.

thank you.

Yes systemctl did replace it.

systemctl (run this to see all the init scripts)

You won't see much of anything in /etc/init.d. Ubuntu added something so there is some backwards compatibility on commands from /etc/init.d but not centos.
