I am using Windows KVM VPS. I would like to learn if you could provide or recommend any statistical reporting tools to know about the site visitors.

If you are running a webserver, just integrate: http://www.google.com/analytics

Some code is added to to the html and you do not need to have any special programs installed on your vps to use it.

I would not want Google to collect (any kind of) data on this application:

What webserver are you using?

IIS webserver.

awstats says on its page: http://www.awstats.org that it supports IIS log format. On linux servers awstats requirement is simply perl.
