1&1 to InterServer Migration
InterServer provides cPanel control panel to manage your websites through a user-friendly interface, through which we can host and manage unlimited domains plus email accounts easily. Our Standard WebHosting package comes with cPanel control panel to manage your websites, the migration process between cPanel to cPanel is very easy. However, in case of 1&1 to cPanel migration is not that much easy. But don’t worry! Our Sys Admins will do the Job on behalf of you. All you have to do is take the backup of your website from the 1&1 and upload it to InterServer account.
As you know the 1&1 doesn’t provide cPanel access for their customers, it would be tougher. There is an option for automatic backup generation on their control panel. If you already setup these option on their end. probably they will store your full website back up in their online storage. In that case, you need to download the most recent backup from their control panel and then upload it to InterServer account.
Otherwise, I would suggest you take all the website data files backup and MySQL database backup individually into your local machine. You can take the backup of full website files using an FTP client such as FileZilla to your Local system. You can have a look at our KB to know how to transfer files from your hosting to local system or vice versa at https://www.interserver.net/tips/kb/using-filezilla-to-upload-a-website/
Once the website data backup stored to your local system, the next step is to take the MySQL database backup from 1&1. Now a day more and more sites are database driven and you need to upload the database backup too in order to migrate website completely. In this scenario, we can take a full MySQL backup via phpMyAdmin.
1) Login to 1&1 Control panel and click on MySQL Database under My Products in the left side menu.
2) Click the “Open” link in the phpMyAdmin column for the database you wish to back up.
3) Click the Database Name at the top left of the phpMyAdmin window from the Current Server drop-down menu. And then click on “Export” tab, select the “Quick” radio button and “SQL” from the Format drop-down menu. Then click on “Go” button to generate the Database backup.
Upload the Backup to InterServer
Once the backup generation completed, you will need to compress the all folder into a single zip folder for uploading everything easily to your InterServer account. Once done, you need to upload this backup zip file to your InterServer cPanel account either via cPanel’s File Manager feature or via FTP client such as FileZilla. You can have a look at our KB for how to transfer files over FileZilla to your account at https://www.interserver.net/tips/kb/using-filezilla-to-upload-a-website/
Once it is completed, you need to open a ticket for restoring the backup file so that our support team will do the restoration for you. You could open a ticket from your Client Portal at https://my.interserver.net >> Support >> Open New Ticket. Also, if you need to restore any particular domain only then please mention that scenario clearly on your ticket. Our support team will get back to you shortly via ticket regarding migration process.
