Box Trapper

Box Trapper will send a ‘challenge email’ to anyone who sends mail to an account that doesn’t pass certain criteria, which they must respond to in order for their emails to pass through to your account. In essence it is saying –‘Prove you are human by responding to this message’. Because most mass emailed advertisements do not receive e-mail at the same address that they send it from, this will eliminate a lot of spam offers from ever reaching your inbox.

To set up box trapper: pick an email account and click the manage link next to it.

You can now edit the messages that are sent out for the challenge by going to edit confirmation messages.

If someone gets on the wrong list you can manually edit the lists by going to Edit White/Black/Ignore Lists . The blacklist informs the sender that they have been blocked. The ignore list blocks them without notifying them. Note that you will need to enter the addresses in PERL format, but that is easy as examples are provided right on the edit page and you can just copy the formatting.

Anyone that you send mail to from that account will not have to go through the verification process.

Box trapper may stop commercial mail offers that you are interested from reaching you, as well as personal mail from people who are too busy to reply to the challenge. It is important to check the lists regularly until you are satisfied that it is not trapping mail you want to see. Do this by checking the second link from the bottom: Review Log .   The last link here, review queue, will allow you to review pending mail verifications.
