Can I FTP to the server as root, not as a normal user?

By default we do not have this enabled. SCP/SFTP would be better to use over FTP. For information on these services please see http://trouble-free.net/faq/smartfaq.cgi?answer=1065986400.

If you still wish to enabled FTP as root this can be done by editing /etc/proftpd.conf. For information on this see http://proftpd.linux.co.uk/docs/directives/linked/config_ref_RootLogin.html.
