Configure and Manage Raw Access Logs in cPanel

The increase in visitors to your website can be a great sign. It usually signals the growth of your business and it is essential to know the right time to upgrade your server. How can you see the logs of your visitors without using a command line interface? With cPanel, it’s easy to view your visitors, even from the history. cPanel provides an option to view access logs. It will give you an outlook of the visitors that accessed your website. You will view the access log without graphs, charts, and other graphical representations. In this documentation, we are going to see how to view your website access log from cPanel.

Steps to View Raw Access Logs

Step 1

Login to the cPanel.

You could login to the cPanel by appending the port to the domain name. If you are have shared hosting with us, you could directly login to cPanel from your portal at https://my.interserver.net . To access the cPanel interface using the port method, you could follow the URL below.

https://yourdomain.tld:2083 or

https://yourdomain.tld/cpanel/

This will bring you to the cPanel login page. Enter your username and password to access cPanel

 

Step 2

Go to Raw Access under the section Metrics.

Step 3

Download the access log.

In the next page, you will see a list of your domains on that particular cPanel account. You could download it to your computer by clicking on the link. Once downloaded you will be able to view the access logs in plain text.

 

Configure Raw Access

There is also an option to configure Raw Access.

You could enable/disable the following options from that page.

1) Archive logs in your home directory at the end of each stat run every 24 hours.

2)  Remove the previous month’s archived logs from your home directory at the end of each month.

You could enable/disable the options from this screen by checking or unchecking the boxes and click on the button “Save” to save the changes.

How to view previous access logs?

The old Raw Access Logs will be archived on the server as you’ve configured the access. You could view the archived logs from the section Archived Raw Logs. To access this logs, you need to click on the name and it will be downloaded to your computer.
