How to Install and Activate BackWPup Plugin

How to Create a Backup Using BackWPup Plugin

You just need a few clicks to take a WordPress backup of one site. We have explained step by step guide below on how to use this plugin, 

Step 1: First, go to the “BackWPup” option on the left hand side of the WordPress dashboard. Then click on “Add New Job” under the “BackWPup” option. 

Step 2: After that, you will have five tabs for the backup settings. Click on the “General” tab. In this section, you will have to name the backup in the job name section.

Step 3: After that, you have to choose the backup you want to perform. You will have multiple options such as database, file backup, WordPress XML, installed plugin list and check the database tables. 

Step 4: Now, scroll down to “backup file creation“. In this section, you can change or customize the “Archive Name”. We have used the default settings here. Now, choose the Archive format from zip or tar or tar Gzip.

Step 5: you will be asked where your backup files will be stored. Select the job destination from available options. 

In the “Logfile” section, you can enter the email address if you want to get notified of errors. 

Now, click on “Save Changes.”

Step 6: You will then receive the message of saved changes. After that, click on “Run Now” to start the backup of your site. This way, you can easily backup the files or database on your site and store it wherever you want. 

How to Schedule a WordPress Backup Using BackWPup

In order to schedule the backup in a specific period, you can follow the steps mentioned below, 

Step 1: First, go to the “BackWPup” on the left hand side panel. Then select “Jobs”

Step 2: Now, go to the backup you want to schedule. Then click on “Edit” below the Backup label. 

Step 3: After that, click on the “Schedule” tab. You will see the “Job Schedule” section, select “With WordPress Cron”.

You can also schedule the backup manually. Moreover, it will allow you to perform the backup using the link as well. But you will need to enable the option “With a link” to make it work. Here, we have selected the “With WordPress Cron” option. 

Step 4: You will have a scheduled execution time. You can easily moderate the schedule settings. Select the “Schedule Type” from basic and Advanced. If you have chosen the “Basic” option, then you can perform weekly, monthly, daily and hourly backup after specific hours and minutes. 

Step 5: If you have selected the “Advanced” schedule type, then you can select month, date, hour and minute to run the next backup.

Once you are done with settings, click on “Save Changes“. You will receive the message that changes are saved. This way, you can schedule the WordPress backups using BackWPup.
