Floating IP w/ Path.Net DOS Protection
Posted on July 25th, 2023
What is a Floating IP?
A floating IP is a fixed public IP address that can be re-assigned and moved between different servers or instances within the same geographical region. This allows you to decouple your IP address from any specific physical server, providing unparalleled flexibility and versatility for your infrastructure. More information on Floating IP.
Can i add it to any server?
You can add Path.Net DOS protection to any VPS or Dedicated server.
What locations are available?
Currently this service is only available in the NYC region.
What is the difference between this and DDOS protection included with all VPS and Dedicated Servers?
We do include free DDOS protection with all our servers. The included protection is not always on and it does not have any options to customize the filter rules.
What is Path.net DOS Protection?
Path.net DDoS protection is a cloud-based service that helps organizations to protect their networks from Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. Path.net uses a variety of technologies to mitigate DDoS attacks, including:
- XDP technology: XDP is a new technology that allows for efficient and effective filtering of DDoS traffic at the network level.
- Stateful cloud firewall: Path.net’s stateful cloud firewall provides protection against both Layer 3 and Layer 7 DDoS attacks.
- Global network capacity: Path.net has a global network capacity of 12 Tbps, which allows it to effectively protect networks from even the most sophisticated DDoS attacks.
What filters are not included?
Symmetric filters are not included with a floating ip. This is because the return traffic will not necessarily go over path.net, but one of many providers in InterServer’s network. Symmetric filters require that the return traffic is routed through Path.
What is the benefit or Path.Net Protection?
With Path.Net Protection, you gain unparalleled advantages, including fortified Floating IPs that are expertly routed through the robust path.net network before reaching your VPS or Dedicated Server. Experience near-instantaneous detection and mitigation of malicious attacks, ensuring uninterrupted service for your critical applications.
Can I add custom firewall and filtering rules?
Yes, we have integrated the Path.Net API into our control panel. All features available inside the path.net portal for direct customers are available on Path.Net protected Floating IP.
Here is an example for adding a new filter.
