GreenGeeks to InterServer Migration

GreenGeeks to InterServer Migration

cPanel is the most used control panel in the World through which we can manage our websites and settings easily via a User-Friendly interface. InterServer provides all the features on cPanel for our customers including unlimited domain hosting and unlimited Email accounts and databases, some hosting providers don’t provide all the features. Our Standard WebHosting package comes with cPanel control panel to manage your websites, the migration process between cPanel to cPanel is very easy. GreenGeeks hosting also provides cPanel control panel, but they do not provide the backup facility on their cPanel interface. But don’t worry! Our Sys Admins will do the Job on behalf of you. All you have to do is take the backup of both website contents and database from the GreenGeeks and upload it to InterServer account. In this tutorial we assume you already have a Standard Hosting package with us, so let’s begin with the steps to migrate your website from GreenGeeks to InterServer.

You will need to back up your website data using an FTP client such as FileZilla to your Local system. You can have a look at our KB to know how to transfer files from your hosting to local system or vice versa at https://www.interserver.net/tips/kb/using-filezilla-to-upload-a-website/

Once the website data backup stored to your local system, the next step is to take the MySQL database backup from Media Temple. Now a day more and more sites are database driven and you need to upload the database backup too in order to migrate website completely. In this scenario, the effort is same as they don’t provide any feature to backup database individually. The option is to take the MySQL Database backup via phpMyAdmin, you can follow our KB at https://www.interserver.net/tips/kb/how-can-i-backup-my-mysql-database/

1) Select the database you wish to back up in the drop-down database selection box on the left

2) Click the Export Tab towards the top of the interface.

3) Click “Select All”. This ensures that all the tables in the database is included, then select “SQL” format from the drop-down menu.

4) Click on “Go”, you will be prompted to save the database to your computer.

Once the backup generation completed, you will need to compress the all folder into a single zip folder for uploading everything easily to your InterServer account. Once done, you need to upload this backup zip file to your InterServer cPanel account either via cPanel’s File Manager feature or via FTP client such as FileZilla. You can have a look at our KB for how to transfer files over FileZilla to your account at https://www.interserver.net/tips/kb/using-filezilla-to-upload-a-website/

Once it is completed, you need to open a ticket for restoring the backup file so that our support team will do the restoration for you. You could open a ticket from your Client Portal at https://my.interserver.net >> Support >> Open New Ticket. Also, if you need to restore any particular domain only then please mention that scenario clearly on your ticket. Our support team will get back to you shortly via ticket regarding migration process.
