How to Create an API Token in WHM?

In cPanel & WHM, API tokens are the feature which allows us to log in to the server without the need for a password. We can use an API token to authenticate with WHM’s remote API. If you want to allow a reseller or third-party developer to run API function calls with your account’s data, this API token feature is very much helpful in this case. However, we cannot create an API token for a suspended account. One of the main advantages of this feature is that if you change at any cPanel account’s username in WHM, any API tokens associated with that account will continue to function.

1) Login to WHM panel with username and password.

2) Go to “Development” option.

5) Here, we need to enter a name for the API token in the “Name” text box and also need to specify the privileges which we want to give to the third party.

6) Once the changes have been done, click on “Generate” button to generate a new API token.

7) On the next page, you can save the newly generated API token ID. It is important to save your API token in a safe location on your workstation. Because you cannot access the token after you navigate away from the interface or refresh the API Tokens table. After copying the token to a safe place. Click on the “Yes, I save my token” option.

The new API token, its name, and its creation time will appear in the API Tokens menu.
