How to Install Moodle on Plesk?

Moodle (Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment) is a free and open-source learning management system written in PHP. With customization management features, Moodle is used to create private websites with online courses for educators and trainers to achieve learning goals.

This guide is valid for the Linux packages only. Let us check how to install Moodle on Plesk server.

1) Login to Plesk admin panel.

2) Create the database by clicking on the right top on “Database”.

3) Then click the button “Add Database”.

4)Enter the Database name, Domain name, Database username and password and click the button “Ok”.

5) Navigate to Applications >> All Available Applications.

6) Search “Moodle” in the search button and click on “Install”.

7) Tick “I accept the terms of use” and click “Next”.

8) Enter the admin details and click on “Install” button.

After the installation, you will get the message that “the installation has been completed Successfully”.

    All this process will not work if you do not fist add a couple of libraries into your PhP. There are plenty of partial information on how to make work the libraries into the php, but most of the outdated. Will be nice if someone updates this explanation since is not working.

    On the other hand, and as note apart. I managed to make it work with many many problems, but still, I am still solving problems, since moodle is setup by default in http and not https, after making the configuration seems not to work properly with the configuration of plesk (using lets encript) and strato.

    Hi, i have done this, why when installing moodle it says user already exists. And if i give a different name it’ll work. Then while installing 99% shows page not found error 404.
