How to manage product categories in AbanteCart

Maintaining a product catalog is an important thing if you own an eCommerce store. If products are not properly arranged in categories and sub-categories, your customers and first-time visitors will not be able to find a product that they need. If the product catalog is regularly managed like Amazon, the overall customer satisfaction will improve. Your customers and new visitors will find it easy to find a product that they need.

If you are using AbanteCart, it is going to be easier for you to manage product categories in your store. AbanteCart allows you to create categories and sub-categories. Along with that, it also displays these categories and sub-categories in a very efficient manner. In this tutorial, I am going to show you how to manage Product categories in AbanteCart. To make this tutorial a little bit visual, I have attached screenshots with each and every step.

Manage Product Categories in AbanteCart

First of all, Log in to the admin panel of your AbanteCart store. Once in, Find and click on a Catalog option given in the left sidebar of the admin panel just like the following image.

Clicking on the Catalog option will open a new drop-down menu that will contain catalog options like Categories, Products, Manufacturers and much more. From this list, click on the Categories option to navigate to the product categories manager.

On this page, it will show you a list of categories available in your AbanteCart. To create a new category, click on the “+” sign at the top-left corner of the Categories page, just like the following image.

Now, Enter Category name, Parent Category, Description and all other required information about the new category according to your requirements. The category creation form will look like the following. After filling up all the information, click on the Save button to save your new category.

So, this is how you can create a category in AbanteCart. It is a very simple process and you can create any kind of category along with various hierarchy.

Edit/Delete Product Category in AbanteCart

To edit or delete a specific category, Navigate to the category listing page. On this page, You will get a list of categories as I mentioned above. To edit a specific category, click on the edit icon corresponding to the category you want to edit. For clarity, see the following screenshot.

Similarly, Click on the Trash icon under the Action column corresponding to the category you want to delete to delete a category.
