How to Install Joomla Templates

A template is what makes your site stand out. As Joomla is open-source, developers and web development companies can make templates for Joomla and sell it or share it for Free. As Joomla is the second most popular content management system on the internet, you can find hundreds of free templates on the internet.

Joomla templates come with different looks, colors and customization options. You can also update a template as per your requirements.

The installation process is easy too! You just have to download your Joomla template and upload it to the admin section of your site. In this tutorial, I am going to show you how to install a template and set it as default. So, Let’s get started.

Install Template in Joomla

First of all, download a Joomla template on your computer. Here are some sites where you can easily find attractive Joomla templates.

Once you have your template, log in to the admin panel of your Joomla site and click on the Extensions -> Manage option. See the following screenshot to find the option.

On this page, make sure you are under the Upload Package File tab. In this section, select an archive containing your Joomla template and click on the Upload & Install button to start the installation.

Once the installation is complete, you can set a new template as default. To do that, click on the Extensions -> Templates option from the top menu.

On this page, you will find a list of all the templates currently installed in your Joomla instance. Now, find the one you want to set as default and click on the Star button under the Default column.
