Both of them are almost the same, except one allows you to manage conditions and environments for the cart, and another allows you to manage conditions for the products or categories.
In this tutorial, I will show you How to manage Promo codes or Coupon codes in Magento. We will cover “Catalog Price Rules” in this tutorial. The other one is almost the same, except it allows you to add different types of conditions. So, Let’s get started.
Manage Promo/Coupon codes in Magento
Log in to the admin panel of your Magento store. Then, click on the Marketing -> Promotions -> Catalog Price Rule option from the left sidebar. See the following screenshot for reference.
On this page, you will see a complete list of all the Catalog price rules available on your store. To create a new rule, click on the “Add New Rule” button from the top-right corner of the page.
On this page, you will see 3 collapsible sections. They are “Rule information”, “Conditions” and “Actions”. In the first section, you have to fill up the form with information like Rule name, description, date range and similar.
In the second section, You have to set the conditions under which the Promo code can be applied. And, in the third section, You have to define the discount amount, or percentage and such things.
Once done with filling up the form, click on the “Save” button given at the top-right corner of the page to save changes.
