Setup Fraud Protection in WHMCS

While doing business on the internet, we have to make sure we are not entering into any fraud or illegal activity. It matters the most if you are running a web hosting business. We have to regularly check for fraud orders to block them. If you are running a web hosting business too, you should also set up automatic fraud protection in your WHMCS panel. With the help of services like MAXMIND, you can put the threshold on the risk score, above that value, the orders will be automatically rejected.

In WHMCS, we can set up fraud protection in minutes, without installing a custom extension or technical knowledge. It is because WHMCS provides us an Interface to quickly set up fraud protection. In this tutorial, I am going to show you how to do just that. Let’s get started with the tutorial.

Set up Fraud Protection in WHMCS

First of all, log in to your WHM account and move your cursor on the Setup option given in the main menu. It will show you a drop-down menu with more options. From the list of options, click on the Fraud Protection option to navigate to the fraud protection section.

Now, you have to select and configure a fraud protection module you want to use. For the demonstration, we are going to go with MaxMind, but you can select any module as per your choice.

Now, you will see more a form with checkboxes, drop-down menus, and fields just like the following image. To enable the MaxMind module for fraud protection, check the checkbox with Enable label.

After that, enter all the required information like the MaxMind Licence key, service type, and other options as per your requirements. You can also enter the MaxMind score you want to avoid.

After entering all the required information, hit the Save Changes button given at the bottom of the form to apply the changes immediately.
