Track DNS Details Using cPanel
Have you ever wanted to retrieve the network information from your website? Using cPanel, you can do this effectively. You can track the DNS of your domain, and also do a trace route to the server where your website is hosted. This will help you to detect and troubleshoot if there is any network issue. You can do this easily with the help of cPanel.
This documentation will show you how to track DNS using cPanel. Please follow the below steps.
Steps to Track DNS using cPanel
Step 1
Login to cPanel. You could login to the cPanel by appending the port to the domain name. If you are having shared hosting with us, you could directly login to the cPanel from your portal at https://my.interserver.net . To access the cPanel interface using the port method, you could follow the below description.
https://yourdomain.tld:2083 or
https://yourdomain.tld/cpanel/
This will lead you to the cPanel login page. You could enter the username and password for the cPanel account.
Step 2
Go to Advanced >> Track DNS. You can refer the below screenshot.
Step 3
Look up the Domain.
Now you will be lead to the Track DNS interface. You can look up a domain in this interface. You need to enter the domain name in the text field for it.

After entering the domain name, you need to click on the button “Look Up” to start the lookup. You can also run a traceroute from the same interface. As you can see, there is a button “Trace” in the window. You need to click on the button as shown in the below screenshot. The trace route result will be shown in the next window as shown in the below screenshot.
This is how you can run a traceroute from the cPanel interface. The below screenshot shows a sample trace route result. The IP addresses are removed to hide personal details.
This is a sample trace route result of on hop. The maximum number of hops is 30. This is how you can track DNS and run a traceroute from the cPanel interface.
